Despite being a tropical country, the Philippines has participated at the Winter Olympics not just once but thrice already! I bet you didn't know that. I was also shocked about this info but it is true. The Philippines joined Winter Olympics Sapporo 1972, Calgary 1988 & Albertville 1992. Filipino Athletes participated in two winter sports: Alpine skiing & Luge. Unfortunately, no Filipino has ever gotten a single medal for the country.

I also heard somewhere that a teenage Filipina will be competing in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. She just arrived after competing and winning lots of medals abroad. This could be the country's first Olympic Medal.
